6. Institute for mission studies in in eastern Europe

Much mission training which is available around the world is designed to equip mission workers for witness in the ‘Global South’ but we are gradually seeing more training becoming available for mission in Europe and other more demanding contexts. A very good example is the work of the Central and Eastern European Institute for Mission Studies (CIMS) in Budapest, Hungary, which has developed into a very reputable institution under the leadership of Dr. Anne-Marie Kool. They offer a PhD programme in Missiology and Ecumenical Studies, an MA programme in Missiology and this summer, in June, they are offering a week long seminar for academic writers. CIMS also publishes the journal Acta Missiologiae which focuses on mission issues in Eastern Europe.

9. Online Master degrees at Bethany Center for Graduate Studies

Katie Dooley, the Admissions Coordinator at Bethany Center for Graduate Studies, wants to remind us that:

“We have specifically designed our programs for missionaries who are on the field or plan to be on the field soon. We wanted to offer advanced intercultural training without requiring them to leave their current positions in missions or ministry to attend a residential campus. Instead, immediately apply what you are learning to the cross-cultural context you are currently in by pursuing one of our online MA degrees.

Whether you work as a frontline missionary, train and develop the next generation of western or indigenous mission leaders, or minister among the most vulnerable members of society to bring rescue and restoration, we have a program designed to equip you for your next level of ministry effectiveness. Choose from one of our MA degrees:

MA in Intercultural Studies

MA in Intercultural Leadership

MA in Intercultural Education
